Some suggestions on the use of essential oils.

Usage Tips:
  • Baths: Add 10 to 30 drops of essential oil per tub of water just before getting in.

  • Bath Oils: Add 10 drops of essential oil per tablespoon of carrier oil for one bath.

  • Bath Salts: Add 25 drops of essential oil to 8 oz. mixed salts. Shake well. Age 1 week before using. Use the entire batch per bath.

  • Facial Creams or Lotions: Add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil per tablespoon of cream, lotion or facial mask.

  • Massage Oils: Add 10 to 15 drops of essential oil per 2 tablespoons of carrier oil per massage.

  • Hand Cream or Lotion: Add 3 drops of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil per application.

  • Floral Water: Add 40 drops of essential oil per 4 oz. of distilled water and refrigerate for use. Shake well each time before using.

  • Healing Floral Water for Wounds: Add 60 drops of essential oil per 4 oz. of distilled water and keep for use (3% solution). Shake well each time before use.

  • After Shave Lotion: Add 40 drops of essential oil to 1 oz. of apple cider vinegar or alcohol. Shake well. Add to 3 oz. of distilled water.

    Aroma Lamps
    Add to water in the bowl of an aroma lamp.

    Breathe More Easily
    Lemon 5 drops/Pine 5 drops/Lavender 5 drops/Spearmint 5 drops.
    Room Disinfectant
    Pine 6 drops/Cinnamon 6 drops/Juniperberry 5 drops/Clove 3 drops.
    Refreshing
    Peppermint 8 drops/Eucalyptus 8 drops/Lemongrass 4 drops.
    Romance
    Sandalwood 7 drops/Ylang Ylang 7 drops/Orange 6 drops.
    Stress Reduction
    Chamomile 9 drops/Cinnamon 6 drops/Fennel 5 drops

    Carpet/Room Freshener
    Wide Mouth Glass Jar with Lid
    ˝ cup baking soda
    essential oil(s) of choice (see suggestions below)

    Mix all ingredients in a wide-mouthed glass jar and tighten cap. Set aside for 24 hours to allow the aromas to permeate the powder. Sprinkle over carpeting, leave for 10 – 15 minutes, and vacuum.

    Some scents to try:
    Lavender 24 drops/Cinnamon 8 drops/Orange 8 drops - or -
    Rosemary 24 drops/Spruce 12 drops/Orange 4 drops - or -
    Lime 20 drops/Orange 12 drops/Patchouli 8 drops - or -
    Lemon 40 drops - or -
    Eucalyptus 40 drops

    Aromatherapy Recipes for Colds
    Bath
    Add the following ingredients to a hot bath:
    10 drops lavender essential oil
    5 drops eucalyptus essential oil
    5 drops sweet orange essential oil
    Relax in the bath for at least ten minutes.

    Steam Inhalation
    In a pot of boiling water add:
    10 drops eucalyptus essential oil
    5 drops ginger essential oil
    5 drops lemon essential oil
    Hold your head about 18 inches from the water and breathe in through your nose, exhaling through your mouth.

    Dry Inhalation
    On a handkerchief place:
    3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
    2 drops clary sage essential oil
    2 drops sweet orange essential oil
    Hold the handkerchief about three inches from your face. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

    Immune Boosting Recipes
    Morning Immunity Bath
    4 drops tea tree oil
    3 drops rosemary oil
    2 drops lemon oil
    1 drop ginger oil
    Add the essential oils to a tub of warm water and soak for fifteen to twenty minutes.

    Evening Immunity Bath
    4 drops tea tree oil
    2 drops clary sage oil
    2 drops sweet orange oil
    2 drops rosewood oil
    Add the essential oils to a tub of warm water and soak for fifteen to twenty minutes.

    Immune Boosting Massage Oil
    4 ounces jojoba, olive or almond oil
    10 drops geranium oil
    10 drops tea tree oil
    8 drops lemon oil
    8 drops lavender oil
    4 drops eucalyptus oil
    Mix well.

    Salt Scrub
    1 cup Sea Salt
    1/2 cup of a mixture of carrier oils (jojoba, grapeseed, almond, apricot)
    10 drops peppermint essential oil
    5 drops orange essential oil
    5 drops spearmint essential oil
    3 drops rosemary essential oil


    Mix into plastic, shower-safe jar. Especially nice in the morning shower or bath.

  • Tangerine for better recall while driving down memory lane.
  • Lemongrass for breezing through a traffic jam.

    Calming for Overactive Pets Mist Spray 1
    Marjoram 60 drops
    Lavender 40 drops
    Orange 20 drops
    Pure Water 4 oz

    Calming for Overactive Pets Mist Spray 2
    Lavender 50 drops
    Chamomile 50 drops
    Mandarin 20 drops
    Pure Water 4 oz

    Arthritic Dog Treatment
    Rosemary 4 drops
    Lavender 2 drops
    Ginger 3 drops
    Vegetable Oil 2 Tablespoons
    Massage well into joints

    Dogs’ Toothpaste and Breath Deodorizer
    Baking Soda 2 Tablespoons
    Clove 1 drop
    Anise 1 drop
    Dampen cotton wool, dip into mixture, and use on teeth. Give dog a drink of water afterwards.

    Pet Flea Collar
    Alcohol ˝ teaspoon
    Cedarwood 1 drop
    Lavender 1 drop
    Citronella 1 drop
    Thyme 1 drop
    4 garlic capsules
    Soak a soft material collar in mixture. Let collar dry before putting on pet.
